Real Madrid Coach, Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that Karim Benzema is doubtful for the Champions League clash with Atalanta.
Benzema sat out Real Madrid‘s 1-0 win over Valladolid on Saturday because of an ankle injury.
He has been scheduled for a scan on Sunday to determine the severity of the injury.
“We are not going to take risks with Benzema because the season is long,” Zidane said. “If he is fine, he will be with us. If not, he won’t.
“We are not going to take risks. We never take risks.
“If it was the Champions League final, that is different and we could [take a risk]. If it’s the final game of the Liga season, maybe.
“But there are many games to play, so we won’t take risks. He will have a scan tomorrow and we will see.”
Benzema has scored 17 goals for Real Madrid this season.
Real Madrid have suffered from injuries to key players this season with the likes of Sergio Ramos, Eden Hazard, Rodrygo Goes, Marcelo all battling to be fit for the Atalanta clash.
