Bashir Tofa, a former Presidential candidate in the 1993 election, has been confirmed dead.
According to reports, the former presidential candidate of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC), died at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) in the early hours of Monday after a brief illness.
Further reports disclosed that Tofa’s death, was confirmed by one of the deceased’s relations, stating that, “Alhaji Bashir Tofa died after a brief illness.”
Tofa was born on 20th of June, 1947, and has died at the age of 75 years.
History disclosed that in the 1993 presidential election, he squared off against MKO Abiola of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the presumed winner of the election, however the Babangida regime annulled the election.
