Following the Anambra governorship polls, supporters reportedly gathered at the house of the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, as he leads in 17 of the 19 local governments where results have been declared so far on Sunday.
According to a video that reportedly surfaced online, supporters were seen singing victory songs, dancing, and shouting “God did this”.
Meanwhile, Soludo, while addressing the crowd, thanked them for their support.
From the 19 local governments’ results so far declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday, the former Central Bank of Nigeria’s governor won in 17.
From the results, Soludo leads his closest contender, Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, with over 45,000 votes.
Further reports disclosed that the total votes for the parties are APGA -99,160; PDP -49,475; APC- 40,270 and YPP -20,292.
However the results for two local governments – Ihiala and Orumba North – are yet to be announced, and INEC officials at the collation centre in Awka declared that no election was held in Ihiala LGA, as it would be held on the 13th of November, 2021.
With Soludo leading in 17 LGAs, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Young Progressives Party, APGA, have won in one LGA each, while Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress, APC, one of the frontrunners, is yet to win any local government.
Reports showed that Valentine Ozigbo, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, won in Ogbaru LGA while Ifeanyi Ubah of Young Progressives Party, YPP, has the highest number of votes in Nnewi North LGA, with Soludo leading in Dunukofia, Awka South, Oyi, Ayamelum, Anaocha, Anambra East, Idemili South, Onitsha South, Njikoka, and Orumba South.
Others local government Soludo emerged as the winner are Onitsha North, Aguata, Idemili North, Ekwusigo, Nnewi South, Awka North, Anambra West.
