Following reports that a hundred year old tree which had reportedly fallen in Oyo town and had risen back after killing four people, the The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, visited the scene to commiserate with the families of the people who lost their lives when the tree fell and crushed the victims to death.
According to reports, the fallen tree whose branches had already been hewn mysteriously rose back on Tuesday, after it was uprooted by the wind during the downpour on Monday.
According to the Alaafin’s media aide, Bode Durojaye, “He went there. The fallen tree rose back again mysteriously. Kabiyesi commiserated with the people there over the sad incident.”
Meanwhile, the Head of Operations of the Western Nigeria Security Network, fondly called Amotekun Corps, in the Atiba area, Akeem Ojo, disclosed that the tree fell on the victims around 6 pm.
According to him, “A female student of the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo; a woman with a baby strapped to her back and a boy she was holding, were pulled out from under the tree.”
He added that, “One person was seriously injured and taken to a private hospital in the area, while motorcycle and minibus parks under the tree were damaged.”
