AFCON 2022: Nigeria Set To Battle Sierra Leone Today In Benin

The Super Eagles Of Nigeria will slug it out with the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone in the 2022 Afcon qualifiers at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.

Nigeria has started the race to Cameroon with maximum points from their first two matches against Benin Republic and Lesotho, while Sierra Leone can only boast of one point from two games.

Gernot Rohr has revealed that the team will not underrate Sierra Leone and he is hoping to secure a swift qualification for the 2022 Africa Nations Cup in Cameroon.

“We do not in any way underrate the Sierra Leoneans that we play over two legs within these four days, but we have our focus and objective for the matches,” the German tactician said.

“We want to win both games so we can have the ticket and be able to be little more relaxed for the final games.“You know that next year, we also have the World Cup qualifiers to focus on. It is better to get the Africa Cup of Nations job behind us now.”

Similarly, The Players got tested for Covid-19 on Wednesday and the results came out just in time before the match, every member of the team including the non-playing staff tested negative for the novel coronavirus.

The match is slated for 5pm Nigerian time at the newly-refurbished Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, it will be live on AIT.
