86 Princes to Contest For Alaafin Of Oyo Stool

Head of Oyo Princes, Chief Mukaila Afonja, has submitted the names of 86 contestants for the vacant stool of the Alaafin of Oyo to the Basorun of Oyo, High Chief Yussuf  Ayoola who doubles as the regent of the ancient town in Oyo State.

The Director of Media and Publicity to the Alaafin of Oyo, Bode Durojaiye, who disclosed it in a statement, announced that from next Monday, the contestants would appear in batches of 10 per day for an interview till September 15, and one of the Princes will eventually succeed

the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who reigned for 52 years and died on April 22 this year at the age of 83.

The statement also noted that “At the end of the meeting, it was resolved that all the contestants should, as a matter of utmost concern, attend a peace meeting on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the Agbala Ogun Hall, in the palace.”
