4 Armed Robbery Suspects Detained in Correctional Centers

Four armed robbery suspects were detained in correctional centres by a High Court in Kubwa, Abuja.

The defendants were charged with criminal conspiracy and armed robbery. Sunday Haruna, Usman Diko, Segun Adigun and Okafor Chimezie are the names of the accused.

The case was adjourned until May 10 and 13 for hearing by the judge presiding the case, Justice Bello Kawu.

The Defence, Julius Angbashim had filed for bail for the defendants based on Section 36 (5) of the 1999 Constitution which said that the defendants were innocent until proven guilty but it was rejected by the court.

Bunmi Aimola, the Prosecution had accused the defendants of conspiring and invading Works and Housing Estate Gwarinpa, Abuja on Nov 9th 2020 where they had stolen six mobile phones, a laptop and a total sum of N2,303,000 and this was punishable under Section 1 (2) (a) of the Robbery and Firearm Act. LFN, 2004.

In an effort to make bail for his clients in the most liberal terms, Julius urged the court to grant his clients bail stating reliable sureties would be provided once the bail was granted.
