A suit filed by the Nasiriyya Organisation 2023, a political group seeking to compel Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State to contest in the 2023 presidential election has been adjourned indefinitely by the states high court.
The suit was adjourned by the presiding judge, Justice Nasiru Umar on grounds that the group’s counsel failed to present its court papers to the national secretariat of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The national leader of the group, Garkuwa Ibrahim Babuga speaking to the press after the adjournment said the law suit was initiated after the Governor refused requests to contest in the 2023 elections.
“We had no option than to approach the court because we had spoken to the governor on the issue but he has declined our request. We also met his parents and relations but we did not get positive responses,” he said.
El-Rufai is fit to be President based on his tract records of achievements. Many people are yearning for the El-Rufai’s Presidency. I don’t have to overblow the trumpet, you all have seen his developmental strides in the FCT and in Kaduna state. He is the best person for the villa in 2023,” he added.
The group remain hopeful that the present ruling of the case would be in their favour. Babuga has called for the Northern stakeholders to join forces and support the movement.
Meanwhile, moves to get former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan into the 2023 presidential race increases.
