122 Persons Have Been Apprehended Over Oil Theft – NNPC

The Nigeria National Petroleum Company, NNPC, has stated that 122 persons have been arrested for oil theft between April and August, this year, while at least 295 illegal connections of pipelines have been discovered by government operatives.

Speaking to newsmen at the 49th Session of the State House briefing in Abuja today, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC, Mele Kyari, lamented that oil theft robs the nation of at least 700 barrels daily.

Kyari, however, made it known that it’s not the NNPC’s responsibility to announce the name of those arrested.
